How to cancel Disney+

Disney+ is one of the services where the cancel button genuinely moves around: you may be billed by Disney directly, by Apple, or as part of a bundle. Finding out who bills you is the whole job; the cancelling itself takes a minute.

Step one: check who bills you

Look at where the charge lands. A Disney+ line on your card means direct billing. An Apple charge means you subscribed through the App Store. A Hulu, Max or telecoms charge means a bundle, and the bundle owner is who you cancel with.

If Disney bills you directly

  1. Sign in at the Disney+ website in a browser.
  2. Open your account settings and select your subscription.
  3. Choose cancel and confirm.

You keep watching until the end of the paid period.

If you subscribed through Apple

Worth knowing

  • Bundles cancel as a unit. If your Disney+ comes in a duo or trio bundle with Hulu or ESPN+, cancelling the bundle ends all of it; check what you’d actually lose first.
  • Annual plans refund poorly. Cancelling an annual plan mid-year generally just stops renewal rather than refunding the remainder, so set a reminder before the yearly date instead of paying for a thirteenth month you didn’t want.

Common questions

Can I cancel Disney+ inside the app?

Only if Apple bills you, and then you cancel in Settings rather than in the app itself. Direct subscriptions are cancelled in account settings on the Disney+ website in a browser.

Do I keep watching until the end of the month?

Yes. Cancelling stops the next charge; access continues to the end of the period you have paid for. Nothing is cut off the moment you confirm.

Will my profiles and watchlist still be there if I come back?

For a while, yes. Disney keeps account data for a period after cancellation, so returning within a few months usually restores profiles and watchlist intact.

Can I switch to the cheaper ads plan instead of cancelling?

You can, from the same account settings screen. If the reason for cancelling is price rather than the service, the ad-supported tier saves most of the money and keeps the account alive.
